Social media juggernaut Snapchat announced new original content that will be available for viewing on its Discover platform this fall. One of the upcoming entries will be the platform’s first daily news show, which will be produced by NBC News. Like other Snapchat shows, the daily news program will be 4-5 minutes in length.
MSNBC’s Cal Perry will be moving to London as global editor of digital content for NBC News. In this new position, Perry will build a team of contributing digital journalists, video producers and more from around the globe that will focus on stories ranging from global politics and breaking news to off-beat local features.
NBC News has decided to confirm that Megyn Kelly is getting Today’s 9 a.m. time slot in the fall. Not coincidentally, NBC News confirmed this long-speculated information shortly after Kelly Ripa, star of ABC’s Live with Kelly! that airs at 9 AM in most markets, unveiled her new co-host: Ryan Seacrest.
Megyn Kelly has crossed the street, literally, and is now an official NBC News employee. She will host a Sunday night newsmagazine debuting next month as well as a weekday mid-morning show, either 9 a.m. or 10 a.m.
NBC is expected to launch a new Sunday newsmagazine program anchored by Megyn Kelly in June, according to a person familiar with the situation, a move that begins to firm up the former Fox News star’s role with her new employer. Hall had been the co-host of the 9 a.m. hour of Today and a daytime anchor on MSNBC. Last week executives informed Hall and the Today staff that the 9 a.m. hour was being canceled to make room for a new program led by former Fox News host Megyn Kelly.
