The streamer has picked up a seventh season of the David Boreanaz-led drama. It will be the third installment that’s exclusive to Paramount+; the series ran for four seasons on CBS before moving platforms with season 5 in fall 2021.
Paramount Pictures’ Top Gun: Maverick became Paramount+’s most-watched movie premiere in its first weekend (Dec. 22-25), surpassing the previous record-holder, Sonic the Hedgehog, by 60%, according to the studio. Paramount+, the revamped successor to CBS All Access, launched in the U.S. and some other markets in March 2021.
Paramount Global won’t hold forth at New York’s Carnegie Hall during TV’s “upfront” season, signaling some of the many changes taking place in the ways traditional media companies talk to Madison Avenue about matching commercials with content. Apparently, it wasn’t even a close race, with 1923 surpassing the previous record by nearly 80%. It eclipsed the debuts of such previous Paramount+ breakouts as Halo and Sheridan’s 1883, Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King.

Paramount Global has extended its U.S. media rights deal with UEFA soccer to continue broadcasting one of the most popular soccer packages on the market until 2030, beating out Amazon, among other competitors. The deal, which includes the rights to the UEFA Champions League, was worth $1.5 billion, according to media reports. ViacomCBS — Paramount Global’s former alias — previously secured the U.S. rights to the soccer federation’s broadcasts through 2024.
Starting in September, subscribers to Walmart+ will be have access to the Paramount+ Essential Plan, which includes ads and offers original dramas such as 1883 and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, along with the preschool franchise PAW Patrol, recent blockbuster films such as Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and live sports.
