In a letter to Senate leadership, all 50 state broadcaster associations are calling for passage of the Local Journalism Sustainability Act. They said the bill “would provide local newsrooms a lifeline that would enable them to sustain, and in some cases, significantly improve the critical public service these local media outlets provide their communities.”
CBS has named Claudia Milne the senior vice president of standards and practices at CBS News and Stations. In her new role, Milne will help determine CBS News’ editorial standards and ensure they are being maintained across CBS News, stations and digital platforms.

Local TV Discovers The Benefits Of QR Codes
QR codes became mainstream during the pandemic when restaurants began using the bar codes to allow diners touchless to menus. Now TV stations are finding that QR codes can be used to drive website traffic and app downloads. Their functionality “crosses sales and news,” says Mitchell West, regional director at Nexstar.

The city of Jackson, Miss., will be required to pay more than $170,000 in legal fees to NBC affiliate WLBT’s parent company, Gray Television, after the Mississippi Ethics Commission ruled the city violated state law by taking more than a year to provide public records to WLBT.
