Hearst Media Production Group (HMPG), is seeking a Creative Services Director and Research Director in our new state-of-the-art Hearst facility in Charlotte, NC.

Creative Services Director

The Creative Services Director candidates should an experienced promotion and brand manager to lead our national marketing and digital content strategies.

With a focus on advancing the visibility of our E/I, entertainment and news/information programming, this hybrid role will interface with the HMPG management team, show producers, our national network and streaming partners, and program sponsors.

The position jointly reports to the EVP, General Manager of (E/I) and EVP, General Manager (Entertainment), with a dotted line to the President of HMPG.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide creative support and marketing direction for HMPG national shows, establishing templates and systems for production of topical and image promotion
  • Oversee digital content, marketing, and social media team, in support of our national programming
  • Manage internal and external press and PR resources, participate in the creation of PR events
  • Manage graphics and branding resources, working with the Hearst Television graphics hub
  • Participate in client and sponsorship meetings on show promotion and branding, digital strategies and press and PR activity
  • Oversee HMPG corporate marketing and branding, including presentation materials, corporate website development and management, and write/produce corporate video presentations as needed

Experience

  • 10+ years in national and/or station marketing, promotion, brand management

  • Proven skills in the management, development, and execution of effective digital strategies
  • Demonstrated press and PR implementation

  • Detailed-oriented and organized
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Education

  • Related experience and/or training considered as well as a combination of education and experience

Research Director

Hearst Media Production Group (HMPG) seeks a Research Director to support our internal teams, platform partners and sponsors with audience and consumer information related to our national programming.

This highly visible role will compile and analyze linear, digital and OTT cross platform viewership for the purposes of strategic planning and to create actionable internal insights and client presentations.

The Research Director jointly reports to the EVP, General Manager of (E/I) and EVP, General Manager (Entertainment), with a dotted line to the President of HMPG. The Research Director will also interface with Hearst TV’s Vice President of Research.

The position is based in our new state-of-the-art Hearst facility in Charlotte, NC.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide tracking and trending of linear, digital and OTT cross platform viewership for Sales, Programming, Creative Services and C-Suite level executives
  • Prepare, analyze, and assemble monthly and quarterly reports that keep senior leadership informed of competitive programming performance across the landscape
  • Develop research for new business pitches, client presentations and meetings with national and international media platforms
  • Work with the sales team to build client presentations and identify/develop new category selling strategies with brand advertisers, foundations, and nonprofits
  • Participate in sales presentations with current and potential clients
  • Liaison with research vendors on new or revised products and services

Experience

  • 5-10 years of national research experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience

Qualifications 

  • Strong knowledge of media industry, including broadcast and cable television, steaming services, local TV syndication and other delivery platforms such as FAST channels
  • Ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights and present conclusions and recommendations for key stakeholders
  • Expertise in Nielsen software systems and Nielsen methodology
  • Knowledge of syndicated sales tools such as MRI, Google Analytics, Comscore
  • Strength in digital research software systems
  • Experience working with data science resources and data sets
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Display strong writing and presentation skills, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Education

  • Related experience and/or training considered as well as a combination of education and experience

Senior Producer

  • Hearst Media Production Group is seeking a highly motivated, detailed oriented, creative Senior Producer to join the staff of our nationally syndicated political news magazine, Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien.
  • The ideal candidate will have highly developed program production skills, a passion for storytelling in all formats, an in-depth knowledge of current affairs, a keen eye for visual and graphic show elements, and an editorial commitment to amplifying diverse voices in the conversation about the nation’s future.
  • The Senior Producer must exhibit inclusive and collaborative leadership skills that will help them manage teams of people in centralized and remote work settings.
  • The Senior Producer will assist with production scheduling and budget.
  • This position reports to the Executive Producer and is based in the Hearst Washington DC Bureau.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works in tandem with the Supervising Producer to manage all facets of show production, delegating elements of show production as appropriate to team members
  • Providing guidance and feedback to producers and editors
  • Developing story ideas and pitching them to editors or producers
  • Arranging interviews with experts in various fields to provide expert commentary on a topic being covered in a story
  • Reviewing stories produced by the team to ensure they meet quality standards and are consistent with the program’s style
  • Helping to manage the budget for the show, including in-studio and field production within limits set by management
  • Coordination and oversight of in studio and remote productions
  • Managing the overall production workflow of a project by assigning tasks to team members, managing long term projects and making revisions to existing timeframes
  • Responsible for all final written products including scripts, promotional and marketing materials
  • With the Director of Production, oversees correspondent projects from beginning to end, including planning, editing, producing, and distributing content

Experience

  • Must have 15 years of producing experience in television (i.e. morning shows, cable shows, broadcast TV, series, etc.)
  • Strong news and editorial judgment
  • Demonstrate knowledge of social media, including the best digital storytelling formats to reach our target audience
  • Familiarity with nonlinear editing software (Adobe Premiere preferred)
  • Knowledge of current events, politics, and pop culture
  • Up to date on periodicals, including Op-Eds

Qualifications

  • Excellent writing ability and communication skills
  • Capable of remaining calm under pressure, meeting tight deadlines, managing multiple projects simultaneously and working in a team environment
  • Exceptional storyteller
  • Creative show production: packing and formats
  • Previous supervisory experience: proven track record of effective delegation and supervision of team members
