ABC News President Kim Godwin said Thursday that the hour will be led by anchors Eva Pilgrim (l) and DeMarco Morgan, joining Dr. Jen Ashton (r), the chief medical correspondent for ABC News, who has been a fixture on the hour for the past three years. Morgan and Pilgrim have been among the anchors that have filled in over the last few months.
Amid continued erosion of the cable bundle (and therefore the reach of cable news channels), NBC News is embarking on a fresh pitch for its NBC News Now streaming offering. The free, ad-supported streaming service (which the company says is profitable) launched four years ago, but NBC News EVP Janelle Rodriguez, who oversees News Now, thinks there is more to do. “We want to keep reintroducing ourselves to new audiences who are seeking out that kind of 24-hour news accessibility,” she says.

The BBC has unveiled its findings following a review into the conduct of recently-ousted chair Richard Sharp. The corporation said Sharp’s conduct did not give rise to any conflicts of interest. Sharp resigned two weeks ago after it was revealed he had helped former Prime Minister Boris Johnson secure a loan in 2020 just weeks before Johnson recommended him for the role of BBC chair. Sharp was then formally appointed in Jan. 2021.
Trump, returning to the network after years of acrimony, also refused to say whether he wants Ukraine to win the war against Russian aggression and said the U.S. “might as well” default on its debt obligation, despite the potentially devastating economic consequences. The live, televised event — held in early-voting New Hampshire — underscored the challenges of fact-checking Trump in real time. The former president was cheered on and applauded by an audience of Republican and unaffiliated voters who plan to vote in the GOP primary, as moderator Kaitlan Collins sometimes struggled to correct the record as Trump steamrolled with untrue statements. “You are a nasty person,” he snapped at one point.
Beginning Tuesday he will offer commentary and analysis across the Nexstar network’s daytime and primetime programming, including the new political ensemble program, The Hill, and special election and political coverage.
Tucker Carlson said Tuesday that he is planning to relaunch his show on Twitter. He said that the new show would be “starting soon,” but gave no exact date for the launch. In a message posted on Tuesday, Carlson said: “Amazingly, as of tonight, there aren’t many platforms left that allow free speech. The last big one remaining in the world, the only one, is Twitter.”
In the latest wave of industry layoffs, the recently combined Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios as well as Paramount Media Networks, overseen by the division’s President and CEO Chris McCarthy, is reducing its domestic team by 25% today. McCarthy addressed the cuts, which he called a “very hard but necessary decision”, in a company memo. According to sources, the basic cable networks were most heavily impacted, with a number of units being shut down as part of consolidation, mostly on the operations side.
The lawsuit, brought by Abby Grossberg, accused the cable network of pressuring her to lie in a deposition. Her lawyers say they intend to refile the case in a different jurisdiction.

About 10.9 million people watched the coronation of King Charles III, with broadcast and cable news outlets carrying coverage from 6-10 a.m. ET on Saturday (CNN continued with the coronation until noon). Fox News (1.6 million), CBS (1.58 million), CNN (972,000) and MSNBC (694,000) followed. BBC America also carried the coronation, averaging 261,000 viewers over the four hours. (CNN got a bump for its coronation coverage after most other networks switched away, bringing in 1.14 million viewers from 10 a.m.-noon ET.)
Saying he is “always grateful to be a journalist in this business,” Wilgoren broke the news on his social media accounts Monday. “Hi everyone, Today I am announcing that I will be leaving FOX11. I could not be more grateful to all of you, general manager Steve Carlston and the entire Fox leadership team for their support in my decision,” Wilgoren said. “Steve and I have had some thoughtful conversations about the future of the newsroom in recent weeks and it is clear that right now what is important to the organization is that we have new outside leadership in the vp/news director role to accompany our new direction across the station.”

Both sides of the political divide expressed suspicion when the CNN forum at New Hampshire’s St. Anselm College was announced last week. Some Democrats question whether the former president should be given the airtime, while Republicans wonder if a network Trump has long disparaged can be fair. Once it begins, moderator Kaitlan Collins of CNN must give audience members the chance to ask questions while determining when to step in with her own. She’ll weigh how to correct misinformation in a potentially hostile environment: Invited town hall participants are those who expect to vote in a Republican primary.
He joins from WVIT Hartford, Conn., to succeed Christina Ginn as head of journalism at the Cox Media-owned ABC affiliate.
Tucker Carlson is out at 8 p.m. on Fox News Channel, and the network hopes that a host of blue-chip advertisers that for years avoided his controversial hour will soon come back in. Since Carlson’s stunning exit last month, a timeslot that has been shunned by many Madison Avenue stalwarts seems as if it is being embraced. Procter & Gamble, one of the nation’s largest and most influential advertisers, has been running ads in Fox News Tonight, the network’s new 8 p.m. program, for female-skewing products like Venus razor blades by Gillette and Secret underarm deodorant. Also showing up in commercial breaks: Novo Nordisk’s trendy medication Ozempic, and Scotts Miracle-Gro.
