Nexstar Ups Romines To SVP-Regional Manager

Ron Romines, the general manager of its properties in Albany, N.Y., is tapped to fill a newly created position overseeing Nexstar’s television and digital media operations in select markets.

Nexstar Media Group today named Ron Romines senior vice president and regional manager, responsible for overseeing the planning and business development of the company’s broadcast and digital operations across an array of markets.

The appointment is effective immediately and Romines will report to Tim Busch, Nexstar president. He will be based in Irving, Texas, where Nexstar’s corporate headquarters is located.

Since 2014, Romines has been VP-GM of WTEN (ABC) and News10.com serving Albany, N.Y. (DMA 59), where he was also responsible for overseeing Nexstar’s relationship with Shield Media’s Fox affiliate WXXA under a joint operating agreement.

Nexstar said Romines’ promotion reflects the company’s “expanding scale and strategy to retain proven broadcast and digital media leaders to oversee assets on a regional basis, while enhancing its commitment to serve viewers, clients and advertising partners across its on-air and digital media platforms.”

In his new role, Romines will work across the Nexstar organization and with other corporate personnel to “administer policies and procedures to enhance the overall effectiveness of the company’s operations and improve operating efficiencies, while continuing to elevate the level of customer service to its business partners and viewers.”

Additionally, he will be responsible for executing and monitoring action plans to deliver on corporate and regional business objectives and financial goals.

Romines first joined Nexstar in January 2017 when the company acquired various assets of Media General and he brings nearly three decades of broadcasting and sales management experience to his new role. Throughout his 14-year tenure at WTEN, he consistently delivered excellence in client service and sales performance. In 2014, he was promoted to VP-GM from his initial position as general sales manager.

Prior to WTEN, between 1995 and 2005 Romines served in various general sales management roles on behalf of WJTV (CBS) and WAPT (ABC) in Jackson, Miss.; WCCO (CBS) Minneapolis; and KOCO (ABC) Oklahoma City. He began his broadcasting career in 1991 as a local account executive at WDBD (Fox) Jackson, Miss.
