Rob Folliard To Handle Retrans For Gray

The Washington communications attorney will join the broadcaster as deputy general counsel.

Gray Television Inc. has hired Robert J. Folliard III to be the company’s vice president and deputy general counsel effective Sept. 21. In his new role, Folliard will serve as the lead lawyer for station operations, and he also will manage Gray’s retransmission consent negotiations.

Folliard currently is a communications lawyer in the Washington office of Cooley LLP, where he specializes in retransmission consent matters and FCC regulatory compliance for local television affiliates. His clients range from large affiliate groups in top 20 DMAs to family-owned broadcasters in small markets.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have Rob join our growing company,” said Kevin Latek, Gray’s SVP of business affairs.

“I am thrilled to be joining such a top-quality company. Gray’s stations are the gold standards in their local markets, and I look forward to working with the many dedicated and talented professionals at Gray,” added Folliard.

Latek and Folliard worked together for many years at Cooley’s predecessor law firm, Dow Lohnes, beginning in 1997.
