Jeff Olde, who has served as EVP of programming and development since March 2013, is exiting the NBCUniversal-owned cable network to pursue what he called his “next adventure.” A replacement has not yet been determined.

Big 4 Nets Set Harvey Telethon Fundraiser

The major broadcast networks, with a little help from a big bunch of A-listers, are banding together to raise funds for the Hurricane Harvey relief effort. Houston native Beyonce, as well as George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, Barbra Streisand, Julia Roberts and Reese Witherspoon are among the boldfaced names scheduled to appear on the Sept. 12 special, which will be based in Los Angeles with cutaways to New York and Nashville.

‘Bachelor In Paradise’ Takes A Labor Day Hit

Bachelor in Paradise was down in both key ratings in the Monday Nielsen overnight ratings, which was not totally unexpected given the Labor Day holiday. Airing at 8 p.m. on ABC, Bachelor averaged a a 1.3 rating in adults 18-49 and 4.4 million viewers. That is down from the season-high 1.7 and 5.5 million viewers last Monday, for a decline of approximately 27% in the key demo and 19% in total viewers.

Steve Harvey Closer To World Domination

Steve Harvey has already been a King of Comedy. Now he’s attempting to rule everything else. The title of TV’s most in-demand host has passed from Ryan Seacrest to the 60-year old comic, who currently hosts four network shows, mugs weekdays on a syndicated version of Family Feud and wakes up listeners most mornings on his long-running radio show. He’s just getting started. On Tuesday the comic will launch a revamp of his daytime talker, Steve, which has moved from Chicago to Los Angeles to allow more celebrities to stop by and pay their respects to the king. And he’s turning his version of Showtime at the Apollo into a series next year.

NFL Pre-Emptions Skew Thursday Numbers

The Thursday Nielsen overnight numbers will be subject to greater adjustment than usual due to numerous local preemptions for NFL preseason football. As it currently stands, Big Brother is the most-watched and highest-rated regularly scheduled broadcast show of the night, averaging a 1.9 rating in adults 18-49 and 7 million viewers. That is up in both measures compared to last Thursday’s episode, but will most likely adjust down later today when the official numbers are tabulated.

Kelly And Ryan Kick Off New ‘Live’ Season

On Monday Live with Kelly and Ryan launches a new season — its 30th in national syndication — of goes-down-easy chat and interviews. Live has dominated entertainment talk TV in daytime for decades, and that is unlikely to change. Even so, a face-off is nigh that media handicappers will delight in tracking: Kelly vs. Kelly. That is, Megyn Kelly, former Fox News star who earlier this year jumped to NBC News and will anchor the third hour of NBC’s Today (currently averaging 2.4 million viewers versus 2.8 million for “Live”). Airing at 9 a.m. ET, Megyn Kelly Today will go head-to-head against Live in many cities starting Sept. 25.

‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Rises On Tuesday

Tuesday’s installment of ABC’s Bachelor in Paradise was up in both key ratings measures, with the episode featuring an interview with Corinne Olympios. According to Nielsen, Bachelor in Paradise averaged a 1.3 rating in adults 18-49 and 4.3 million total viewers, up approximately 13% in both measures from the previous Tuesday episode. Olympios was supposed to be a contestant on this season of the reality dating series, but dropped out after an incident with fellow contestant DeMario Jackson.
