Fox News is no longer available in the U.K. now that 21st Century Fox has decided to drop the feed of its U.S. news channel from the Sky satellite platform. Fox said in a statement the decision was made because the channel has very little viewership and is not a money-maker for Sky.
Eboni K. Williams, co-host of The Fox News Specialists, addressed President Trump on Monday in her “Eboni’s Docket” segment, which she writes herself, berating him for failing to specify white nationalist groups in his condemnation of the violence that occurred at Charlottesville, Va., over the weekend. She told Variety in an interview on Wednesday that her personal website, which usually receives an average of 10-15 emails after each segment, was inundated with over 150 emails, only three of which were anything other than “seething, scathing” takedowns.
Fox News said it has removed a video from its website that depicted cars plowing through demonstrators, saying it was “inappropriate.” The 90-second video had been picked up in January from The Daily Caller, a website co-founded by Fox personality Tucker Carlson. The Daily Caller’s video editor, Mike Raust, wrote when it was posted: “Here’s a compilation of liberal protesters getting pushed out of the way by cars and trucks. Study the technique; it may prove useful in the next four years.”
Laura Ingraham is in line for a Fox News Channel primetime slot Matt Drudge has suggested via Twitter.
The cost of improprieties at Fox News Channel continues to grow for the cable-news outlet’s parent, 21st Century Fox. The media conglomerate, controlled by the Murdoch family, disclosed in a filing Monday with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it had paid out $50 million in its recently completed fiscal 2017 due to “settlements of claims arising out of allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination at the Company’s Fox News Channel business.”
Fox News Defends The Media – Sometimes
Is Fox News a stalwart defender of the press freedoms it depends on? Well, that may depend on the year. It might even depend on who is the president.
Freelance journalist Yashar Ali is fighting back against a $50 million defamation lawsuit filed by recently suspended Fox News host Eric Bolling — and he has powerhouse litigator Patty Glaser in his corner. In a letter sent Friday to Bolling’s attorney Michael Bowe, and copied to Fox News’ EVP Dianne Brandi, Glaser demands the suit be dropped immediately.
As the investigation continues and threats of new lawsuits swirl in the allegations that Fox News Channel’s now suspended Eric Bolling sent lewd texts to colleagues, the outlet’s battle with Andrea Tantaros has taken another strange twist. Fighting back against moves by FNC and a former on-air contributor to toss the Ex-Outnumbered and The Five co-host’s federal case claiming “extremely high-tech” hacking and a “professional/career assassination,” Tantaros’ attorney is now throwing serious suspicion on the big bucks paid to one Pete Snyder by the cable newser.
Recently suspended Fox News host Eric Bolling is suing journalist Yashar Ali for defamation and is seeking $50 million in damages after Ali’s HuffPost story claimed that Bolling sent “an unsolicited photo of male genitalia via text message to at least two colleagues at Fox Business and one colleague at Fox News.”
The host is currently under investigation following reports of his texting an inappropriate photo to colleagues.
NEW YORK (AP) — A liberal advocacy group that targeted Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly for advertiser boycotts in the past now has its sights set on Fox News Channel’s […]
It has been more than two months since Fox News retracted its story about the death of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich, and the network still claims to be investigating what happened, leaving its employees perplexed and wondering why there has been no explanation and no action taken to put the issue to rest.
The lawyer for a Washington private investigator who is suing Fox News over its use of allegedly invented quotes in a news story advancing a bizarre conspiracy theory said Tuesday he will seek to depose President Trump and former White House press secretary Sean Spicer to question them over their roles in the affair.
This morning, Gizmodo filed a lawsuit against the FBI seeking access to any files it holds on Roger Ailes. Gizmodo sought access to the records under the Freedom of Information Act on May 18, the day Ailes was found dead in his Palm Beach home due to a traumatic brain injury aggravated by his hemophilia. As one the most influential and controversial political figures of his era, we believe these files are likely to exist. The FBI failed to provide or formally deny access to the records within the time period allowed under the federal statute.
A private investigator who was put at the center of a controversial report on the death of a murdered Democratic National Committee operative is alleging he was placed there against his will by employees of Fox News Channel.
Fox ran a full-page advertisement in The New York Times on Thursday, blurbing a recent review that called the Fox & Friends morning show “the most powerful TV show in America.” Television critic James Poniewozik’s review wasn’t exactly complimentary, as it traced the show’s close relationship with the nation’s tweeter-in-chief, President Donald Trump.
When Roger Ailes resigned from Fox News one year ago, critics questioned whether the network could stay dominant without its visionary founder. One year later, Fox News remains the most-watched network on cable news and one of the most powerful forces in American politics.
21st Century Fox has been the leader among the Big Four broadcast and cable conglomerates in driving growth over the last couple years, with Fox News a large part of the reason for that success. Yet with both management and on-air talent in transition, Fox News risks going from the company’s biggest asset to a drag on its business.
Fox commentator Mark Serrano has been one of President Trump’s most enthusiastic supporters on air, but his financial ties to Trump were only disclosed after his company was paid $30,000.
Trump Sees Two-Way Mirror In ‘Fox & Friends’
James Poniewozik: “Fox & Friends, the three-hour wake-up program on Fox News, is an interactive magic mirror for Donald J. Trump. He is the show’s subject, its programmer, its publicist and its virtual fourth host. The stars offer him flattery, encouragement and advice. When he tweets, his words and image appear on a giant video wall. It’s the illusion of children’s TV — that your favorite show is as aware of you as you are of it — except that for Mr. Trump, it’s real.”
Fox News lost its founding CEO and its top-rated TV personality amid sexual harassment allegations and an advertiser boycott. It gained Marianne Gambelli, a well-known and respected career ad exec who is a symbol of the organization’s efforts to publicly rebrand. She started at Fox News on May 22, some four weeks after the network split with Bill O’Reilly amid an advertiser revolt and four days after Ailes died at home. Where others see a vulnerable company beset by controversy, Gambelli describes a new era coming at Fox News — one ripe for collaborations and experimental ad units.
The Fox News Channel morning show has been credited or — depending on your politics — blamed for sending a onetime reality TV star to the White House by giving Trump a platform to riff on politics back when he was contemplating a run in 2012. And since the November election, Trump has rewarded that loyalty, appearing on the show and amplifying comments made by hosts and guests to his 33 million Twitter followers.
With Bill O’Reilly out, Fox News had to reshuffle its decks — and fast. The network hasn’t missed a beat, continuing its 15-year run atop all direct competitors. And its reach is growing: Fox News been the most-watched network among all of basic cable for four consecutive quarters. A good portion of that success is due to the smooth launch of Fox News Specialists, a new show geared to a younger audience co-hosted by Eric Bolling, Katherine Timpf and Eboni K. Williams.
The New York State Division of Human Rights is investigating Fox News for allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination, according to attorney Lisa Bloom.
