NBC chief medical editor and correspondent Dr. Nancy Snyderman apologized for violating quarantine guidelines after traveling to Liberia to cover the Ebola outbreak.
The New Jersey Health Department has issued a mandatory quarantine for NBC News crew members who were exposed to Ebola while on assignment in Liberia. In a statement, the department said the quarantine order was made after the crew violated its agreement to voluntarily quarantine themselves for 21 days.
Before choosing Chuck Todd to host Meet the Press, NBC News President Deborah Turness held negotiations with Jon Stewart about hosting Meet the Press, according to three senior television sources with knowledge of the talks. One source explained that NBC was prepared to offer Stewart virtually “anything” to bring him over. “They were ready to back the Brink’s truck up,” the source said.
“Obviously he is scared and worried,” Dr. Mitchell Levy said of his son, Ashoka Mukpo, who was hired Tuesday to be the second cameraman in Liberia for NBC’s chief medical editor and correspondent Dr. Nancy Snyderman. Mukpo has been “seeing the death and tragedy and now it really hit home for him. But his spirits are better today,” added Levy, who appeared on NBC’s Today show with his wife, Diana Mukpo.
An American freelance cameraman working for NBC News in Liberia has tested positive for the Ebola virus and will be flown back to the U.S. for treatment, the network news operation confirmed Thursday. Ashoka Mukpo, 33, had been hired Tuesday to be a second cameraman for NBC News medical correspondent Nancy Snyderman. Snyderman and the rest of the crew will be flown back to the U.S. and placed in quarantine for 21 day.

New ‘Meet The Press’ Host Defies The Rules
Chuck Todd began his new role as host of NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday and provided a reprieve from the pomposity and punchy diction common on the Sunday talk shows.
The Morning Joe host will be a regular contributor to round-table discussions on Meet the Press, where new moderator Chuck Todd replaces David Gregory on Sunday. Scarborough will offer analysis on other NBC News broadcasts and work as part of the network’s election team.
Former Meet the Press executive producer Betsy Fischer Martin is leaving NBC after 23 years with the network, she announced Friday. Martin served as EP of Meet for 11 years until last summer, when she transferred to senior executive producer role amid the show’s decline under moderator David Gregory. Her departure comes just weeks after Gregory’s, and one week before Chuck Todd takes over as host.
She says she will focus on her Clinton Foundation work and the upcoming birth of her first child.
NBC News President Deborah Turness had to apologize after infuriating top execs and talent by announcing the network news organization had been asleep for 15 years. Sources say Tom Brokaw, managing editor and anchor of NBC’s Nightly News from 1982 until 2004, Turness’ predecessor Steve Capus (NBC News president from 2005 to 2013 and now executive producer of CBS Evening News) and CNN chief Jeff Zucker “are apoplectic” over Turness’ remark.
