ABC has renewed comedy series Black-ish for an eighth and final season. Creator Kenya Barris first shared the news on social media.
The network has also picked up Supermarket Sweep, Shark Tank and America’s Funniest Home Videos for the 2021-22 season.
Kat’s cat café will remain open after Fox handed freshman comedy Call Me Kat a second season. However, Darlene Hunt, who was the showrunner and executive producer of Season 1, is leaving the show and negotiations are underway for her replacement.
Ellen Pompeo and fellow original stars Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. have all closed rich new pacts to return to the flagship drama, with spinoff Station 19 also scoring a Season 5 pickup for the 2021-22 broadcast season.
Following a fan outcry over its untimely cancellation, Sanditon has been renewed for Seasons 2 and 3, PBS announced. The eight-part ITV series — based on Jane Austen’s final, unfinished novel — made its stateside debut on PBS in early 2020.

In addition, series executive producer Elwood Reid will take over as showrunner for Season 2. His past credits include The Chi, The Bridge, Hawaii Five-O and Barkskins. He takes over running the show from series creator and executive producer David E. Kelley. Season 1 is still currently airing, with the finale set for May 18.
Season to date, The Good Doctor is averaging 4.23 million total viewers and just shy of a 0.6 demo rating (in Live+Same Day numbers) — down about 30% from Season 3. Among the eight dramas ABC has aired this TV season, it ranks third in both measures (trailing Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy).
The renewal announcement for Kung Fu comes just under a month after the series premiered. It has enjoyed strong ratings on the network since then, making the renewal all but a certainty. It was also the only scripted CW series this season still waiting on word of a renewal going into upfronts.
NBC is staying in business with Dwayne Johnson and Kenan Thompson. The network has renewed comedies Young Rock and Kenan for second seasons. It marks the latest comedy renewals at the broadcaster, having ordered a second season of Mr. Mayor last month.
The NCIS franchise will be back to three series on CBS next season. The network has renewed veteran NCIS: Los Angeles for a 13th season. Additionally, the network has given a straight-to-series order to new offshoot NCIS: Hawaii, the first installment in the NCIS franchise with a female lead.
NCIS will return for its 19th season with star Mark Harmon aboard, CBS announced on Thursday. Additionally, the network renewed Blue Bloods, S.W.A.T., Bull and Magnum PI.
The network has handed out a two-season renewal to the competition series, hosted and co-created by Phil Keoghan. The renewal, which will take the show through its fourth season, comes hours before the season two finale airs on CBS Wednesday night.
The streaming giant has handed out a third and fourth season renewal for the period drama from executive producer Shonda Rhimes.
Access Hollywood and its spinoff/companion series Access Daily have both been renewed for three more seasons, which will take them through 2025. NBCUniversal Syndication Studios has sold both shows in more than 90% of the U.S. for next season. Currently averaging 1.4 million total viewers per day in its 25th season, Access Hollywood is hosted by Mario Lopez, Kit Hoover and Scott Evans, and features correspondents Sibley Scoles and Zuri Hall. Access Daily, which features the same trio of hosts, is in its 11th season.
Just ahead of its Season 2 premiere next month, Fox renewed animated sitcom Duncanville for Season 3. “Watching Amy [Poehler] bring her incredible talent to Duncanville both on and off the screen these past two seasons has been an amazing experience,” said Fox Entertainment President Michael Thorn.
That means the Big Bang Theory prequel series will be on the air until at least 2024. The series debuted in 2017, with its fourth season currently airing. Season 5 will debut during the 2021-22 broadcast television season. This is not the first time the show has picked up a multi-season renewal. Back in 2019, the show was renewed for two seasons.
Judge Jerry, the court show hosted by daytime TV veteran Jerry Springer, has been renewed for a third season by NBCUniversal Syndication Studios. The show premiered in national broadcast syndication in fall 2019 as the highest-rated syndicated court show premiere in five years, NBCU said. It is averaging 1 million daily viewers for Season 2 while delivering one of the youngest audiences among its court show competitors.
NBC has renewed Mr. Mayor for a second season. The latest series penned and executive produced by dynamic comedy duo Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, starring Ted Danson, Holly Hunter, Vella Lovell, Mike Cabellon, Kyla Kennedy and Bobby Moynihan, opened to solid numbers on its Thursday night debut on Jan. 7, representing the network’s best Thursday comedy launch in total viewers (6.6 million in Live+7) since the premiere of the Will & Grace revival in 2017.
Her self-titled syndicated series has been renewed for a second season, with CBS-owned TV stations serving as the flagship station group. The pickup comes on the heels of a decent ratings bump in the early part of 2021.
The news comes as the show is currently in production on Season 6, which was supposed to begin last year but was delayed due to the pandemic. Season 7 of the popular series will be based on the seventh book in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series, An Echo in the Bone. It will consist of 12 episodes.
This year’s Super Bowl lead-out program, CBS’s The Equalizer, has scored a touchdown in the form of an early Season 2 renewal.
The pickup will keep the Disney-owned comedy on the air through its 34th season in 2023.
The rookie DC Comics drama from Greg Berlanti earns a speedy pickup after airing only one episode. The second episode airs tonight.
ABC is doubling down on putt-putt. Deadline says the Disney-owned network has handed a bumper two season renewal order for mini-golf competition Holey Moley, taking it through to a fourth season.
CBS is beginning to put its 2021-22 slate together. The broadcast network has handed out early renewals for its Monday comedies, slotting a third season for Chuck Lorre’s Bob Hearts Abishola and a fourth season for Cedric the Entertainer’s The Neighborhood.
The CW is bringing back the majority of its current slate next season after making a bumper renewal order including a second season of Walker. The network has made the early decision to hand renewals to 12 current series with Mark Pedowitz sticking with stability as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to have an impact on network’s schedules, the development process and pilot season. All American, Batwoman, Charmed, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Dynasty, The Flash, In The Dark, Legacies, Nancy Drew, Riverdale, Roswell, New Mexico and Walker will all return for the 2021-22 season.
The broadcaster has renewed the unscripted series hosted by Ken Jeong following a solid debut run in the fall. Jeong, who’s also an executive producer, and judges Cheryl Hines and Adrienne Bailon-Houghton are set to return.
NBC has renewed The Blacklist for a ninth season, the network announced today. The James Spader-led drama is currently airing its eighth season, with the upcoming Jan. 29 episode set to finally reveal the top name on Raymond Reddington’s infamous blacklist.
NBC has ordered 13 more episodes, with production set to begin later this year. Jane Lynch will return to host the series, which sees contestants answer general knowledge questions to bank prize money across multiple rounds. At the end of each round, the contestants vote out who they perceive to be the “Weakest Link” remaining.
The period drama based on Julia Quinn’s best-selling novels marks Shonda Rhimes’ first series for the streaming giant.
