As has been expected for months now, NFL owners voted Tuesday to expand the regular season from 16 games to 17 starting this year. The Super Bowl, which had been scheduled for Feb. 6, 2022, is now expected to be played Feb. 13, 2022. The season is expected to start with the traditional Thursday night opener Sept. 9, which had been the plan even if the season had stayed at 16 games.

Jessica Walter, the award-winning actress whose career spanned five decades, passed away in her sleep at home in New York City on Wednesday, March 24. Walter’s career included everything from a standout turn in Clint Eastwood’s directorial debut, Play Misty for Me to The Flamingo Kid to her Emmy-nominated turns on Trapper John M..D. and Streets of San Francisco. For her performance as Lucille Bluth in Arrested Development, Walter earned yet another Emmy nomination and two SAG nominations. Walter won an Emmy for Amy Prentiss. She also voiced Malory Archer on FXX’s animated series Archer.
ABC’s The Conners on Wednesday drew 3.3 million total viewers and a 0.5 rating, slipping to its second-smallest audience yet and a new demo low. Call Your Mother (2.1M/0.3) similarly matched its demo low. On CBS, SEAL Team (3.9M/0.5) and S.W.A.T. (3.6M/0.5) both ticked up to match their season highs in the demo.
