Liberty Puerto Rico and NBCUniversal Media said they reached an agreement that ends a weekend blackout of the local Telemundo station and 13 cable channels. The two companies said they were able to reach “a reasonable commercial agreement” that will return the NBCU content to Liberty customers on the island.
Traditional media companies will need to spend much more on programming in the coming years to compete with growing streaming competitors such as Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu. All affect profit margins, according to analyst Brian Wieser, GroupM global president of business intelligence.
In a competitive situation, FX Networks has landed off-network rights to hit Fox animated series Family Guy, starting with its 16th (2017-18) season. It has also made an off-network deal for Bob’s Burgers, starting with the current ninth season. (The older seasons of both Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers remain on Turner’s Adult Swim/TBS for the time being.)

After only two episodes in its Wednesday time slot, CBS is pushing LeBron James’ Million Dollar Mile to Saturdays. The move comes after the show has posted lacklustre ratings so far, with a soft 1.0 rating debut in the key 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million viewers, which then dipped to a 0.8 rating and 3.4 million viewers for the second episode. Beginning May 4, it will air the rest of its season on Saturdays at 8 p.m.
Page Six TV, the half-hour daily strip focused on pop culture, will not return for a third season in syndication. Co-hosted by Bevy Smith, Elizabeth Wagmeister and Carlos Greer, Page Six TV, hailed from Endemol Shine North America, Twentieth Television and the New York Post.
