National Sales Manager

WSFL, the E.W. Scripps station in Miami, FL is hiring for a National Sales Manager.

Responsible for managing National Accounts and maintaining relationships with clients and representatives within their assigned market(s).

Manage and work with national representative firms, advertising agencies and their clients, national brand advertisers, and local managers to prospect and sell Scripps products across individual markets, or our national platform.

Additionally, responsible for New Business Development for your assigned market.


  • Grow national revenue within assigned market(s) through developing relationships with national agencies, their clients, and national brand advertisers
  • Manage accounts across set market(s)
  • Work with national representative firms to respond to their availability and rate requests, keeping them informed of new products and market trends
  • Respond to national Request For Proposals (RFPs) and create customized sales presentations that win business
  • Track sales activity Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to achieve goals
  • Proactively communicate with product and content teams to keep them informed of advertiser and industry ad requirements
  • Manage ongoing alternative sales channel efforts to achieve regional revenue objectives
  • Work alongside sales product leadership to roll out revenue-generating products and services through national sales channels
  • Travel to meet with agencies, clients and advertisers as well as attend industry events and conferences
  • Act as a member of the extended sales management team for assigned station(s); This includes collaborating to accomplish station objectives and partnering to develop the local sales team
  • Perform other duties as assigned:


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of media sales experience
  • 3 or more years of broadcast and digital sales management strongly preferred
  • Expert knowledge of all facets of broadcast and digital media platform sales and marketing


  • Strong business acumen especially with regard to advertising businesses and trends
  • Ability to forecast sales pipeline
  • Financial acumen to produce annual budgets, and manage expenses as they relate to National Sales
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and ability to promote and sell concepts to representatives, agencies and customers

Creative Services Director

WSFL, the Scripps CW station in Miami, FL is hiring a Creative Services Director (CSD). The CSD leads the station’s marketing and branding efforts on multiple platforms.


  • Oversee the brand image strategy and execution, including supervising all aspects of station promotion and marketing using on-air, online and outside media resources.
  • Responsible for the development of promotional strategic plans, multi-media marketing plans, promotional News campaigns, general programming promotion.
  • Develop web-based promotion and monitor image of station website.
  • Supervise and schedule day-to-day activities in the Promotion Department for station.
  • Liaison with network and syndicators regarding the station promotional activities.
  • Coordinate commercial production and sales promotion for the Sales Department.
  • Develop and coordinate viewer-related contests for station.
  • Develop and monitor annual budgets for Creative Services Department.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by station GM and corporate management.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications or other related field preferred or equivalent business experience.
  • Minimum five years of progressively responsible multimedia creative/management experience in the areas of promotion, production and/or creative services for medium to large market.
  • Proven track record for development of successful marketing concepts and branding efforts is a necessity.


  • Possess a keen interest and understanding in the latest technology and social media applications as applicable to marketing.
  • Must possess effective leadership and management skills as well as the ability to work well with management team.

  • Senior Level Account Executive duties.
  • Sell advertising solutions to local and regional businesses and advertising agencies.
  • In addition to television commercial airtime sales, facilitate the customer’s ability to take advantage of the full array of digital marketing options available.
  • Independently prospect, secure appointments, perform needs analysis, develop customized solutions, present and close sales to develop and maintain new business from traditional and non-traditional advertisers.
  • Use ratings data, qualitative information and market trends to negotiate program ratings and advertising rates with advertising agencies in order to maximize revenue as well as develop custom solutions for new advertisers.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor with new and existing clients, provide best-in-class customer service, grow accounts, and gain additional business from referrals.
  • Perform client services, including but not limited to media avail negotiations, presentation preparation delivery and execution, copy writing, credit applications and collection of revenue due.
  • Effectively and proactively manage a sales funnel by way of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, monitoring and achieving key performance indicators and expected activity levels.
  • Contribute to the creative development of campaigns though client communication and needs analysis, storyboard and concept creation, and assistance in production aspects.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, which may include entertaining prospective and existing clients.
  • Perform routine administrative functions of a media salesperson including makegood resolution, continuous update of CRM system with activity, account information and pending revenue, and communication with sales leadership regarding the status of accounts
