ABC News has found the new anchors for GMA3, the early afternoon spinoff of Good Morning America. ABC News President Kim Godwin said Thursday that the hour will be led by anchors Eva Pilgrim (l) and DeMarco Morgan, joining Dr. Jen Ashton (r), the chief medical correspondent for ABC News, who has been a fixture on the hour for the past three years. Morgan and Pilgrim have been among the anchors that have filled in over the last few months.

Amid continued erosion of the cable bundle (and therefore the reach of cable news channels), NBC News is embarking on a fresh pitch for its NBC News Now streaming offering. The free, ad-supported streaming service (which the company says is profitable) launched four years ago, but NBC News EVP Janelle Rodriguez, who oversees News Now, thinks there is more to do. “We want to keep reintroducing ourselves to new audiences who are seeking out that kind of 24-hour news accessibility,” she says.

The BBC has unveiled its findings following a review into the conduct of recently-ousted chair Richard Sharp. The corporation said Sharp’s conduct did not give rise to any conflicts of interest. Sharp resigned two weeks ago after it was revealed he had helped former Prime Minister Boris Johnson secure a loan in 2020 just weeks before Johnson recommended him for the role of BBC chair. Sharp was then formally appointed in Jan. 2021.

The former president was cheered on and applauded by an audience of Republican and unaffiliated voters who plan to vote in the GOP primary, as moderator Kaitlan Collins sometimes struggled to correct the record as Trump steamrolled with untrue statements. “You are a nasty person,” he snapped at one point.

Beginning Tuesday he will offer commentary and analysis across the Nexstar network’s daytime and primetime programming, including the new political ensemble program, The Hill, and special election and political coverage.

Tucker Carlson said Tuesday that he is planning to relaunch his show on Twitter. He said that the new show would be “starting soon,” but gave no exact date for the launch. In a message posted on Tuesday, Carlson said: “Amazingly, as of tonight, there aren’t many platforms left that allow free speech. The last big one remaining in the world, the only one, is Twitter.”

In the latest wave of industry layoffs, the recently combined Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios as well as Paramount Media Networks, overseen by the division’s President and CEO Chris McCarthy, is reducing its domestic team by 25% today. McCarthy addressed the cuts, which he called a “very hard but necessary decision”, in a company memo. According to sources, the basic cable networks were most heavily impacted, with a number of units being shut down as part of consolidation, mostly on the operations side.

The lawsuit, brought by Abby Grossberg, accused the cable network of pressuring her to lie in a deposition. Her lawyers say they intend to refile the case in a different jurisdiction.
