WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

Lots Of Coal In Syndies’ Christmas Stockings

In a generally low-rated holiday frame where only a handful of first-run shows were able to avoid often steep loses Live with Kelly and Ryan managed to lead the talk genre for the second time in five weeks.

Live with Kelly and Ryan celebrated the Christmas session ending Dec. 29 as the No. 1 talk show for the second time in five weeks.

In a generally low-rated holiday frame where only a handful of shows were able to avoid often steep loses, Kelly and Ryan held its ground at its season-high 2.2 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, and topped the talkers by open daylight. The program’s ratings highpoint of the week was its holiday-themed “Kelly and Ryan’s Christmas Eve Show.”

Usual talk leader Dr. Phil, which was in reruns all week, and included the lightly viewed Christmas Day in its average, took second place despite a 25% decline to a new season-low 1.8.

Finishing third, Ellen DeGeneres dropped 27% to a new season-low 1.6.

Perennial ratings champion Judge Judy was mostly in repeats but still blew away all other court shows for the 1,214th consecutive week, and, even with the barely watched holiday pulling down its average, battled to an overall second-place 5.4 finish behind Family Feud.

Feud topped the chart with a 5.6. Next in line, Jeopardy tumbled 25% to a new season-low 4.8, tying Wheel of Fortune, which skidded 23% to a new season-low.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Elsewhere, all of the top six magazines were hit with double-digit declines amid heavy preemptions and competition with holiday festivities that took viewers away from their sets.

  • Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.0, unchanged from the week before)
  • Dr. Phil (0.7, -30%), tied with Ellen DeGeneres (0.7, -22%) and Maury (0.7, +17%)
  • Kelly Clarkson (0.5, -17%), tied with Wendy Williams (0.5, -17%) and Steve Wilkos (0.5, unchanged)

I hope that means Dr. Phil will finally go down in the ratings until the end of his run. Live With Kelly & Ryan will stay number 1 for now on Kelly Clarkson will beat Dr, Phil in the ratings as well,
