WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

Strong Showing By Syndie’s Top 2 Rookies

In the week ending Dec. 22, Tamron Hall surged 11% from the prior frame while The Kelly Clarkson Show climbed 15% to a 1.5, its highest rating since its strong premiere week in early September, even though it was in reruns for most of the stanza.

Hot newcomers Tamron Hall and rookie leader The Kelly Clarkson Show — both already renewed for year two — scored double-digit increases and were the only gainers among the rookies in the session ending Dec. 22, 2019.

Hall surged 11% from the prior frame to a 1.0 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, matching its season high and winning its time period in key markets including Atlanta.

Clarkson climbed 15% to a 1.5, its highest rating since its boffo premiere week in early September, even though it was in reruns for most of the stanza.

Mel Robbins, a third freshman talker, trailed the top two with an unchanged 0.4 for the 11th week in a row.

Among the veterans, Live with Kelly and Ryan sewed up its strongest rating since May 26 with its Holiday Sweater Party, leaping 10% to a new season-high 2.2 and tying an unchanged Ellen DeGeneres for second place behind Dr. Phil.

Phil continued to roll, topping the talkers for the 171st time in the past 172 weeks with a steady 2.4.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Leading all daytime shows was Judge Judy with a syndication-best 6.6 despite being partially in repeats and one of several programs hit with massive preemptions for the congressional impeachment vote on Dec. 18.

The undisputed household ratings campion of the year, Judy once again lit up the entire chart with a first-place finish for the 20th time in last 21 weeks.

Among magazines, the shows with growth were Daily Mail TV and Access Hollywood. Mail delivered a 25% demo increase and a 13 spike in households to a 0.9, equaling its best rating of the season and tying Extra.

Access Hollywood jumped 17% in the demo and 7% in households to a 1.5, matching its season high.

The week’s top-rated daytime talk shows in the women 25-54 demo were:

  • Dr. Phil (1.0, unchanged from the week before), tied with Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.0, +11%)
  • Ellen DeGeneres (0.9, unchanged)
  • Kelly Clarkson (0.6, unchanged), tied with Maury (0.6, +20%) and Wendy Williams (0.6, -14%)

In the household rating rankings that follow, % change is from the previous week; * indicates a new season-high rating; ** indicates a new season low; NC indicates no change from the previous week; NA means not applicable.
