The CW Comes To KRON San Francisco This Week

Nexstar Media Group’s KRON San Francisco (DMA 10) is set to launch The CW Network this Friday, Sept 1. KRON, the market’s former MyNetworkTV affiliate, replaces CBS-owned KBCU as the CW affil.

Nexstar owns 75% of The CW Network and is also The CW’s largest affiliate group. The CW reaches 100% of U.S. households, delivering 14 hours of primetime programming per week in addition to live sports and entertainment programming.

The CW’s fall lineup includes classic CW series like All American plus new premium dramatic offerings including 61st Street, Sullivan’s Crossing and The Spencer Sisters, plus family sitcoms Son of a Critch, Run the Burbs, Children Ruin Everything and Everyone Else Burns.

KRON will also benefit from The CW’s live sports programming with events including ACC college football and basketball which begins in September, the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and LIV Golf. By 2025, the network will be carrying more than 400 hours of sports programming over 48 weekends.

As well, KRON says it produces more local news than any Bay Area television station. Starting Sept. 1 two new local newscasts, weekdays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and every night from 11 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. join the KRON lineup. KRONon, streaming local news content 24/7, will also continue with live local news streaming each evening between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.
