One of the biggest challenges facing cybersecurity executives and managers lies in training employees to avoid clicking on malicious emails, and to think twice before plugging a USB drive into the company’s IP network or using an unsecured laptop to work on a project from home.

Experts from Paramount Global, the New York Times, Allen Media Group and the Identity Defined Security Association will talk about their strategies for addressing this challenge during Creating a Culture of Security, a panel session set to take place at 4:30 p.m. ET on Oct. 26 at TVNewsCheck’s fifth annual Cybersecurity for Broadcasters Retreat.

Speakers are Carlo Joseph, SVP, strategy and governance, Paramount Global; Sarah Kate Thomas, information security manager for security education, The New York Times; Shilpi Ganguly, VP IT and security, AMG Cybersecurity Group, Allen Media Group; and Jeff Reich, executive director, Identity Defined Security Association. Jonathan Newsome, senior director of technology, OPB, will moderate the conversation.

The panel takes the same name as the overall theme at CBR 2023, which will take place at NAB Show New York on Thursday, Oct. 26.

“A workforce trained in cyber awareness is key to mitigating against the risk of security breaches, but companies often struggle to keep their employees up to speed,” said Kathy Haley, TVNewsCheck’s publisher and co-founder. “Our panelists will be sharing state-of-the-art strategies that can be implemented at companies large and small.”

Other CBR sessions include a breakfast workshop during which CEOs and security leaders will talk about how best to communicate the balance between business risk and investment in cybersecurity staff and tools.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

During “A View from the Trenches: Crisis Management in 2023,” a leading cybersecurity attorney, Luke Dembosky, a partner at Debevoise & Plimpton, will lead attendees through an interactive workshop about trends in security breaches and the way companies are managing their responses.

Security leaders from Comcast will share their AI Threat Library during “Converging Digital Disruptors and the Media Industry” and technology and security leaders from Fox Corp., will talk about their pioneering work Securing IP and Cloud Operations.

Additional CBR 2023 sessions include:

  • Securing the Supply Chain
  • The Future of Cyber Insurance: Navigating the Complex Digital Landscape

Attendees from media and broadcast technology companies will also once again be able to retreat for an hour to a highly private, large conference room to share their experiences and ask questions during a Private Information Exchange.
