The FCC today granted the sale of eight Communications Corp. of America stations to Nexstar Broadcasting and also agreed to let Nexstar operate KYLE Bryan, Texas, as a satellite of KWKT Waco, Texas.
The other stations in the deal are: KVEO Brownsville, Texas; KTSM El Paso, Texas; WGMB Baton Rouge, La.; KETK Jacksonville, Miss.; KADN Lafayette, La.; and WNTZ Natchez, Miss.
The stations were originally part of a deal made in 2013 in which Nexstar agreed to buy 19 stations in 10 markets along with its duopoly partner Mission Broadcasting for $270 million. That transaction had to be restructured when the FCC tightened its rules governing SSA-JSA deals.
The FCC action follows approval last month of the deal by the Department of Justice, which conditioned approval on Nexstar spinning off WEVV Evansville, Ind., which Nexstar agreed to sell to Bayou City Broadcasting for $18.6 million.

Hit a homerun right off the bat. July 1, KLAF channel 46 will become NBC and so will KADN DT2 and KADN DT3 will be the My Network TV slot. Hopefully when KLAF goes full power HD we get a diginet. Nexstar does not like subchannel but hopefully they make an exception for us newcomers…
