WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

Few Gainers In Slow Summer Syndie Session

First-run series posting weekly gains in the frame ending July 20 included Dish Nation, Dr. Phil, Jerry Springer, The Test, Trisha and Paternity Court.

Dr. Phil returned to the top of the talkers in the week ending July 20 after a brief absence while the show was entirely in reruns. But Phil, which rose 8% and scored its highest ratings in five weeks, was the only daytime show in the top 10 to grow in the session, which was marked by heavy news coverage of a Russian missile shooting down a huge passenger jet over the Ukraine.

Live with Kelly & Michael was a close second in the talk race, holding steady week to week and improving 8% from last year. Ellen DeGeneres was a distant third, unchanged week to week and down 5% from last year.

Next-in-line talkers Maury and Dr. Oz declined from the prior session. Wendy Williams was flat from the week-earlier frame, but up 15% from the same week last year, while Steve Harvey slipped with repeats all week.

In access, the top six magazine strips took a breather and were all flat to down slightly after clocking sharp gains in the previous frame. However, seventh-place Dish Nation rose 10% to a five-month high (matching its all-time high as well).

The weekly ET Weekend climbed 7% and The Insider Weekend surged 17%.

The No. 1 show in syndication overall for the 17th consecutive week was Judge Judy, which aired five reruns but was still up 2% from last year at this time.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

A second test for The Daily Helpline remained at a 0.1 rating/0 share in week two, down 66% from its lead-in and down 80% from its year-ago time period average.
