The show leads all freshman series. Some of the other newcomers post week-to-week gains while many returning shows are flat to down in the week ending Oct. 12.

‘Hot Bench’ Continues To Heat Up Syndication
The week ending Oct. 12 was a good one for rookies Hot Bench, Meredith Vieira and Celebrity Name Game. New gaveler Hot Bench rose 7% to a 1.5, its highest rating yet and topped the syndication newcomers in household rating and total viewers for a fourth consecutive week.
Hot Bench drew a series record 2.048 million viewers per show, topping its nearest freshman rival by almost half a million.
Meredith, the best-known new talker, improved 9% to a 1.2, the second-highest household score for any freshman, tied with access rookie Celebrity Name Game, which also jumped 9% to a 1.2.
Further back, The Real, a panel chatfest was flat at fourth-place 1.0,while Judge Faith was unchanged at a 0.7.
In terms of women 25-54, Hot Bench led the rookies, surging 33% to a first-place 0.8, its best demo score yet. The Real was flat at a 0.7; right behind were Meredith and Celebrity Name Game, both at a 0.6; and Judge Faith trailed with a 0.3.
Among the veteran talkers, Dr. Phil was a strong No. 1 for the sixth consecutive week, gaining 3% from the prior session to a 3.1 rating, which was up 11% from last year at this time. Phil was also tops in the key women 25-54 demo.
BRAND CONNECTIONS
Live with Kelly & Michael was a solid No. 2 in households, dipping 3% for the week, but still growing 4% from last year.
Third-place Ellen fell 8% to a new season low 2.4, which was unchanged from last year.
Maury, which advanced 5% both week to week and year to year, was the only veteran talker besides Dr. Phil moving up from the previous frame in households.
Compared to last year, the top-tier chatfests moving up in households included Steve Harvey, which climbed 13% to a 1.8, and Wendy Williams, which was up 23% to a 1.6 (it was also up 10% among women 25-54 from a year ago).
Among women 25-54, Maury rose 8% week to week and Dr. Oz improved 13%.
In access, Entertainment Tonight reached a milestone 950 consecutive weeks — or more than 18 years — as the No. 1 magazine.
Meanwhile, most mags were steady to slightly lower than they were the week before when they got a boost from the George Clooney wedding. Extra Weekend had the sharpest increase in the category, surging 50% from the prior session to a new season high 0.9.
Judge Judy was the top-rated strip in syndication for the 29th straight week, scoring a 7.0.
Family Feud had a strong showing, with a 3.0 among women 25-54, a 43% gain among women 25-54 from a year ago, to go along with a 35% household ratings increase to a 5.8. It was also the No. 1 show in first-run syndication among women 25-54.
