WEEKLY SYNDICATED RATINGS REPORT

‘Jeopardy’ Jumps To No. 1 Game Slot

It pulls ahead of Wheel for only the second time in the last 10 years. Other first-run shows reporting gains in generally slow week include Extra, Steve Wilkos, The Test, Trisha and TMZ.

Syndication entered the mid-summer dog days in the session ending Aug. 3, while Jeopardy pulled an upset and moved ahead of usual game show topper Wheel of Fortune for the second time in 10 weeks.

Wheel slid 3% from the prior frame to a 5.7 and fell behind Jeopardy for only the second time since September of 2004. Jeopardy was up 4% to a 5.8.

Elsewhere in access, Extra scored the largest increase among magazines, improving 8%, while Entertainment Tonight extended its winning streak in the category to 940 consecutive weeks.

In daytime, Steve Wilkos was the only talk show in the top 10 to improve from the week before. Live with Kelly & Michael led the genre for the seventh time in the past eight weeks; Dr. Phil repeats were a steady second; Maury captured sole possession of third place, breaking a tie with Ellen DeGeneres, which fell 11% and matched its season low.

Judge Judy had no trouble remaining syndication’s highest-rated show overall for the 19th straight week with a 6.5, dipping 6% from the previous session, but still growing 5% from last year.

In the metered markets, the trial run of Laughs, a weekend comedy show, after two weeks averaged a 0.4 rating/1 share, losing 50% of its lead-in and slipping 33% from its year-ago time period average.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

The test of the Hollywood Today Live strip after four full weeks also posted a 0.4/1 average, sinking 50% from its average lead-in and dropping 42% from its year-ago time periods.

The four-week average a third trial run, The Daily Helpline, was a 0.1/0, declining 66% from its lead-in and down 75% from its year-ago time period average.
