1.3 Million for a LPTV station that’s dark (off the air). WTF?

This Class A station has an estimated opening bid by the FCC of $87 million using the currently proposed formula of 25% for pop count (423,000), a contour-based interference count of 80, and using the pre-AWS K factor of 900. If the newly proposed EOBC formula’s are used the opening bid prices go much higher. With estimated closing bid prices thought to be about 1/10th of opening, this dark Class A could vetch $8-10 million when done. The selling price may or may not be an indication of the “deal”, just the price associated with the transaction. Hopefully that answers your WTF with the facts as we know them today. Collectively over 400 Class A stations have more than $50 billion in opening bid prices, go figure that one out.
