WSB Names Station Manager, News Director

Marian Pittman has been promoted from news director to station manager and is succeeded by Mike Dreaden at Cox’s Atlanta ABC affiliate.

Cox Media Group today Marian Pittman station manager of WSB, its ABC affiliate in Atlanta (DMA 9).

Pittman has been the station’s news director for last five years. In her new post, Pittman will be more involved in the overall strategic decision making for the direction of the station. She will oversee news, programming, public affairs, and engineering.

Pittman has worked for Cox for 23 years, starting at WSOC Charlotte, N.C.  From there she moved to WHIO Dayton, Ohio.  She came to WSB-TV as a news producer and rose to Senior Executive News Producer before moving to WFTV in Orlando as Assistant News Director.  She returned to WSB-TV as News Director in 2006.

Mike Dreaden, the station’s managing editor for 13 years, is succeeding Pittman as news director. Dreaden, a veteran broadcast journalist, honed his skills as an award-winning news manager while working in New York City and Miami prior to joining WSB in 1998.
