Dale Woods Named GM Of WSMV Nashville

The Meredith Local Media Group today named Dale Woods vice president and general manager of its NBC affiliate WSMV Nashville (DMA 29), effective August 28. Woods replaces Doreen Wade, who retired in June.

Woods brings over 30 years of experience to the post. He joins Meredith from WHO-TV Des Moines, Iowa, where he has been general manager since 2007. During his time at WHO-TV, Woods was named General Manager of the Year by Broadcasting & Cable magazine in 2012.  He also installed the country’s first S-Band radar at WHO-TV, and earned one of the country’s first drone FAA certifications, according to Meredith.

Prior to joining WHO-TV, Woods:

• Spent two years as general manager at KWWL, the NBC affiliate in Waterloo, Iowa.

• Served as general manager of KAMR, KICT and KCPN, the NBC, Fox and independent stations in Amarillo, Texas.

• Was general manager of KSVI and KHMT, the ABC and Fox affiliates in Billings, Mont.

• Worked in several different sales positions at WRGT and WKEF, the NBC and Fox affiliates in Dayton, Ohio.

Woods received his Bachelor of Arts in broadcast sales and station management from Ashland College in Ohio.
