Michael Nathanson To Open TV2020

The senior research analyst at MoffettNathanson will be the opening speaker at a daylong conference about emerging and future revenue streams for the broadcasting industry.

Michael Nathanson, senior research analyst at research firm MoffettNathanson, will open TV2020: Monetizing the Future, where he will address how the emergence of OTT and other changes in the TV ecosystem are impacting traditional TV media, particularly the broadcast networks and their affiliates.

Nathanson covers both the media industry and the leading digital advertising companies. For the past decade, he has been consistently named one of the leading media analysts in the United States by Institutional Investor magazine.

“Michael tracks all the big multimedia companies so he can provide a broad view of how the broadcast networks and their affiliates may fare in a TV world where the broadband offerings like Netflix and Sling TV are radically changing viewership habits and the fundamentals of traditional TV media,” said TVNewsCheck Editor Harry Jessell.

“TV broadcasting has come to rely on retransmission consent revenue for its growth,” Jessell added. “But what happens when the underpinnings of that revenue — cable and satellite subscribers — begin to erode? This is just one of the questions Michael will address.”

Prior to co-founding MoffettNathanson with Craig Moffett in 2013, Nathanson worked at Sanford Bernstein from 1998 to 2010 and at Nomura from 2010 to 2013. Before he began working on Wall Street, Nathanson held strategic planning and financial analysis positions at Time Warner, Cablevision and MGM.

He received a B.A. from Brandeis University and a master’s degree from the Yale School of Management.
