WVIT Names Hydeck Weekday Evening Anchor

NBC-owned WVIT Hartford, Conn. (DMA 32), today announced that Mike Hydeck will join the station’s news team, returning to his home state of Connecticut.

As veteran anchor Gerry Brooks scales back his schedule in a transition to retirement, NBC Connecticut also announced a new anchor lineup that includes Kevin Nathan as a fulltime news anchor, and expanded roles for longtime anchors Keisha Grant and Kerri-Lee Mayland.

The new lineup will debut on Wednesday, Oct. 25. Starting Nov. 23, Hydeck will co-anchor the 11 p.m. weekday newscast alongside Keisha Grant.

A native of Monroe and UConn graduate, Hydeck has more than 20 years of experience in local broadcasting. He joins WVIT from WUSA Washington and WFSB Hartford where he was a morning news anchor for both stations.

After more than 20 years of sports journalism, Kevin Nathan will shift gears and assume news anchor duties. Keisha Grant will add the 5 p.m. news to her daily anchor role. Kerri-Lee Mayland will co-anchor with Nathan from 4 to 5 p.m., and then again at 5:30. Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan will forecast for all of the early evening and 11 p.m. newscasts.
