Mark Mendenhall Upped To VP-GM Of WECT

The former general sales manager takes over the top slot at Raycom’s NBC affiliate in Wilmington, N.C., following the retirement of Gary McNair.

Mark Mendenhall today was appointed vice president and general manager of Raycom Media’s NBC affiliate WECT Wilmington, N.C. (DMA 130).

He was previously WECT’s general sales manager and succeeds Gary McNair, who retired on Feb. 28.

“Mark has seen many changes come to the Wilmington market during his nearly 16 years at WECT,” said Don Richards, group vice president for Raycom Media. “He brings that deep experience plus his inclusive and collegial style to lead WECT successfully into our exciting future.” 

Prior to working at WECT, Mendenhall was account executive at WLFL Raleigh, N.C. In 2002, he began his career at WECT as an account executive. he was promoted to national sales manager in 2005, and named general sales manager in 2008. He served as the Raycom Sales Advisory Board chair in 2016.

Mendenhall earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in communications from North Carolina State University.
