KOCO, AccuWeather to offer 24-hour weather in Oklahoma City

Hearst-Argyle Television’s ABC affiliate in Oklahoma City, KOCO, and AccuWeather Inc. are to partnering in the launch of KOCO’s FirstAlert Weather 24/7, an around-the-clock digital weather channel serving the Oklahoma City market.

FirstAlert Weather 24/7 is currently available to viewers on over the air on KOCO-DT ch. 5.2 and on Cox digital cable ch. 222.

“Serving our viewers’ needs is what this is all about,” said Brent Hensley, KOCO president-general manager. “By working with AccuWeather to provide FirstAlert Weather 24/7 on Cox digital cable and over the air on KOCO-DT 5.2, in addition to our broadcast weather coverage on Eyewitness News 5 and the weather section of KOCO.com, we can provide viewers more local weather information whenever they want it, however they want to get it.”

FirstAlert Weather 24/7 offers viewers the convenience of continuous local weather coverage on their television. It provides live Advantage Doppler HD radar, seven-day local forecasts, current conditions, and breaking weather updates.

In addition to the local forecasts and commentary by KOCO Chief Meteorologist Rick Mitchell and the First Alert Weather Team, the channel features national and regional content by AccuWeather on-air presenters.

The Local AccuWeather Channel currently airs on the digital tier of cable television systems in 40 markets throughout the country. Included in the current market station group are all ABC-owned and operated stations as well as CBS, Fox, ABC, and NBC stations throughout the country.  Local AccuWeather Channel is soon to be in 65 broadcast markets.
