WILX Lansing Introduces 5:30 P.M. News

Gray Television’s NBC affiliate WILX Lansing, Mich. (DMA 115), will introduce a Monday-Friday 5:30 p.m. newscast around Oct. 1.

News 10 currently airs at 5-5:30 p.m. and 6-6:30 on weekdays. Adding the additional half hour at 5:30 will provide viewers with 90 minutes of local news from 5:00-6:30, concluding with the NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt at 6:30 p.m.

WILX will retire its 4 p.m. newscast in order to concentrate resources on the new evening lineup. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire will move to 4 p.m., with Jeopardy at 4:30. News 10 @ 6pm and News 10

@ 11 p.m. remain the same, with no changes planned for the weekend.

“We’re always looking at new and innovative ways to keep our audience engaged and growing,” said Barb Roethler, WILX News Director, “We’re excited to rethink the typical evening newscast, and give viewers something fresh and new at 5:30.”
