DMA 88: PADUCAH, KY

Quincy Buys Second Station This Week

Its purchase of WSIL Paducah, Ky., follows that of KVOA Tucson, Ariz., earlier this week. Terms have not yet been disclosed for either deal. The two stations swell Quincy's portfolio to 16 markets.

For the second time this week, Quincy Media has announced the purchase of a TV station. The latest is ABC affiliate WSIL Paducah, Ky.-Cape Girardeau, Mo. -Harrisburg, Ill. (DMA 88).

WSIL is the only station owned by Mel Wheeler.

On Monday, the Quincy, Ill.-based group said it was buying NBC affiliate KVOA Tucson, Ariz., from Cordillera Communications.

On Monday, Scripps said it had agreed to buy Cordillera’s other 15 full- and low-power stations. KVOA was left out of that deal because of the FCC local ownership limits. Scripps already owns two station in Tucson.

Quincy has not released terms of either the WSIL or KVOA deals, but they will eventually become public when Quincy files for FCC approval.

WSIL will be Quincy’s fourth Illinois station.
