Swirl Films, Gray TV Expand Partnership

Independent TV and urban film production company Swirl Films and Gray Television unveiled an expanded relationship that provides Swirl Films with added resources and platforms upon which to continue growing its product and service offerings.

As part of the new relationship, Swirl Films and Gray’s Tupelo Honey video production company have deepened their prior working relationship to enable both companies to expand their production capabilities and content libraries.  In addition, Gray has become the new majority owner of Swirl Films. Founder Eric Tomosunas remains Swirl Film’s CEO.

Swirl Films provides the full suite of production services from script to screen for movies, biopics, scripted series, award shows and documentaries. Swirl Films’ customers utilize a multitude of functions provided by the company such as writing, directing, producing, budgeting, scheduling, casting and/or post-production audio, editing and color grading for their projects.

Swirl Films owns and operates a 100,000 square foot film and TV studio in Atlanta that is used by both Swirl and other producers. In the last six years, Swirl Films has delivered more than 60 original productions across various platforms and distributors, including BET, TV One, Bounce, Lifetime, Hallmark, Reel One, Netflix and Up TV.

“Since its founding in 2001, Swirl Films has established a reputation for best-in-class development and production services for filmed content,” said Gray’s Co-CEO and President Pat LaPlatney. “We are proud to have Eric and his team as our new partners for the future, delivering in-demand high quality and cost-effective productions for all distribution platforms, most of it produced right here in Atlanta.”

Cary Glotzer, CEO/founder of Gray’s Tupelo Honey, added: “This exciting partnership allows the Swirl team more support for its current and future client base to achieve ever higher creative, financial and production objectives in the coming years.”
