Paul Ballinger Retiring After 34 Years At WBNS

Paul Ballinger, director of sales at Tegna CBS affiliate WBNS Columbus, Ohio, has decided to retire next year.

Ballinger began his career as an account executive at WBNS-AM-FM in 1986. After promotions to local sales manager, and then general sales manager, Ballinger eventually made the transition to WBNS television in September of 2000.

He was promoted to local sales manager in 2006 and to director of sales in 2014.

Ballinger is a 1984 graduate of The Ohio State University.

The station said that during his time at WBNS, Ballinger and his sales teams “have set a high standard in the industry having met and exceeded their revenue and market share goals year after year. Through Paul’s leadership, he and his sales team have led the Columbus market in revenue share and have set market share records both within Dispatch and Tegna.”

“I will never forget the many account executives, department heads, manager’s and clients that I have had the good fortune of working with and gotten to know through the years,” Ballinger said. “It’s what I will remember the most — the people. It has been an outstanding group of professionals that helped the station and I succeed.”
