Jon Hitchcock Named GM Of WNYT-WNYA Albany

He moves from Tegna WTIC-WCCT Hartford, Conn., to take over leadership of Hubbard’s NBC and MNT outlets in New York’s capital.

Hubbard Television Group today appointed Jon Hitchcock vice president-general manager of NBC affiliate WNYT and MNT affiliate WNYA Albany, N.Y., effective in early January 2022.

Hitchcock says: “WNYT and My4 have a rich history of serving New York’s capital region with a committed team of professionals. For over 25 years, Albany has been a second home for me with family in the area. I feel extremely fortunate to join Hubbard Broadcasting and build upon its standard of excellence in an area I’m passionate about.”

Hitchcock has been president and general manager of Tegna’s Hartford-New Haven’s WTIC-WCCT since April 2015. He serves on the Fox Television board, Connecticut Broadcasters Association and the Interval House Against Domestic Violence.

Before returning to Connecticut, Hitchcock was president and general manager for CBS-owned KYW-WPSG Philadelphia beginning in 2009. There he earned several distinguished media honors including the Edward Murrow Award.

Before going to Philadelphia, Hitchcock was VP-GM of WTNH-WCTX New Haven, Conn., beginning in April 2002. He was past Chairman of the Connecticut Broadcast Association.

Hitchcock attended Springfield College in Springfield, Mass.
