‘Jeopardy’ Gets Another Syndication Win Despite Amy Schneider’s Loss

The top-rated game show slipped 2% to a 6.5 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, even though its champion contestant was upset in a last-second thriller on Jan.27 after 40 consecutive victories.

Jeopardy pulled back, but still held the syndication lead, as the amazing Amy Schneider was stopped halfway through the session ending Jan. 30. The high-flying game slipped 2% to a 6.5 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, when its champion contestant was upset in a last-second thriller on Jan.27 after 40 consecutive victories.

Family Feud finished second with a 3% gain to a 6.0, rolling over Wheel of Fortune, which fell 5% to a 5.7.

Dr. Phil continued to operate in first place among talkers for the fourth week in a row, spiking 6% to a 1.9.

Live with Kelly and Ryan made it close, climbing 6% to a 1.8 and matching its highest rating of the season.

Kelly Clarkson also equaled its season high, holding a 1.0 and jumping into a third-place tie with Ellen DeGeneres.

Other closely watched shows in the top 10 retaining their best ratings of the season included Tamron Hall at a 0.7 and Drew Barrymore at a 0.6.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Meanwhile Judge Judy remained the one to beat in daytime, speeding up 4% to a 5.1 and dominating the court shows for the 1,323rd week in a row.

Hot Bench stayed at its season high 1.6 and maintained a stranglehold on second place among the gavelers.

Elsewhere, Access Hollywood was a bright spot among magazines, moving up 33% in the key women 25-54 demo and the only one of the top four to hold its ground in households.

The top talk shows for the week among women 25-54 were:

  • Dr. Phil (0.7, unchanged from the week before), tied with Live with Kelly and Ryan (0.7, unchanged)
  • Ellen DeGeneres (0.4, unchanged), tied with Kelly Clarkson (0.4, unchanged) and Maury (0.4, unchanged)
