Lots Of Talk Shows Post Gains

Kelly Clarkson, easily the most honored show at Saturday’s 49th Annual Creative Arts & Lifestyle Emmy Awards, was sharp, advancing 13% for both the week ending June 12 and the year to a 0.9. And another big movers was Tamron Hall, which swelled 17% in households and 50% in the key women 25-54 demo.

Talk shows made the most Nielsen noise in the session ended June 12 with seven of the top 10 strips surging higher.

Dr. Phil, despite being in repeats, strengthened 7% to a 1.5 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, tying a steady Live with Kelly and Ryan for first place in the hotly contested category.

Other big movers of note included Tamron Hall, which swelled 17% in households and 50% in the key women 25-54 demo. Rachael Ray and Maury also moved up 17.

Compared to last year, the best gainer in the top 10 was Drew Barrymore, which ballooned 25% from the same week in 2021. Barrymore was also syndication’s second-biggest Emmy winner on Saturday.

Judge Judy, which has dominated the court shows for the 1,342 weeks, remained the daytime champion with a 10% spike to a five-week high 4.6. That was syndication’s third-highest-rated entry overall.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Jeopardy topped the chart at a 5.2 followed by Family Feud at a 5.1.

The top talk shows for the week among women 25-54 were:

  • Dr. Phil (0.5, +25% from the week before), tied with Live with Kelly and Ryan (0.5, unchanged)
