Mike Zikmund Upped To GM At The Delta News

Imagicomm Communications has named industry veteran Mike Zikmund general manager of the four network news affiliates comprising “The Delta News” in Greenville, Miss. (WABG [ABC and Fox], WXVT-LD [CBS] and WNBD-LD [NBC].

Zikmund comes to Mississippi from Imagicomm’s Fox affiliate WHBQ Memphis where he was director of sales.

Becky Swan, Imagicomm SVP of broadcast television, local markets, said: “This is a well-deserved promotion. Mike brings more than 30 years’ experience to Greenville-Greenwood. He and his family are very excited to engage with the beauty and history of the Mississippi Delta region. His background will serve as a real asset for our very complex operation which includes all four major network affiliations.”

Zikmund has more than three decades in the industry, leading sales teams for various ownership groups including NBC, Belo, Cordillera, Nexstar and Cox Media Group, giving him a wide perspective on the broadcast television business. As director of sales at WWL New Orleans, he led the sales team through its recovery after Hurricane Katrina. He also has served in senior-level management roles in the New Orleans, Birmingham, Ala., and Lafayette, La.

After graduating from The University of Evansville with a degree in radio/TV/film, he began his television sales career in his hometown of Evansville, Ind., as a local account executive.
