Gray Television today promoted Bruce Austin to general manager of its Knoxville, Tenn., dupoly of WVLT (CBS) and WBXX (CW).
For the past five years, he has been the GM of WALB (NBC), WGCW (CW) and WTSG (Telemundo) in Albany, Ga. Previously, he was the stations’ general sales manager for 10 years.
A native of Southwest Georgia, Austin grew up watching WALB, which Gray put on the air in 1954. Under his leadership, the operation expanded its local service and added additional local programming. In 2020, the Georgia Association of Broadcasters recognized WALB as its Station of the Year.
He serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters. He begins his new position on Jan. 2, 2024.
