Jesse Pagan, an award-winning journalist with Central Florida roots, joins Hearst’s NBC affiliate WESH Orlando, Fla., as an anchor-reporter beginning May 15.
Pagan comes to WESH from KFMB San Diego where he was an evening anchor-reporter. While there, he conceptualized and created a weekly franchise, Mi Gente, which focused on local Latino communities and nonprofit organizations.
“We are thrilled Jesse will be joining the WESH 2 news team. He has incredible experience covering major stories around the country and we look forward to his contributions here at WESH 2,” said Stephanie Linton, WESH news director.
Pagan, who has earned two Edward R. Murrow Awards for breaking news, has also worked at WSYX-WTTE Columbus, Ohio; WBBH Fort Myers, Fla.; WCJB Gainesville, Fla., and interned at ABC World News Tonight with David Muir in New York, N.Y.
Born in Puerto Rico, Pagan moved to Volusia County when he was 8 years old. His family still lives in Central Florida.
Beginning May 15, Pagan will anchor WESH 2 News at 4 p.m. with Nancy Alvarez and Cam Tran; 5 p.m. with Michelle Imperato and Tony Mainolfi, and 10 p.m. on sister station WKCF with Michelle Imperato, Tony Mainolfi and Daren Stoltzfus.
Pagan is a graduate of the University of Florida in Gainesville where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in telecommunication: news with a minor in political science.
