WMAQ Sets Multiplatform Election Coverage

NBC O&O WMAQ Chicago (DMA 3) is planning expanded election night coverage across multiple platforms on Tuesday, Nov. 2. WMAQ will begin its coverage in primetime at 7 p.m., with local cut-ins throughout the night, followed by an expanded NBC5 News from 10 to 11 p.m.

Continuous coverage can also be seen on the station’s newly relaunched digital ch. 5.2, Chicago NonStop. Election Night Raw will continuously rotate between live feeds from the various campaign headquarters beginning at 7 p.m. The live pictures will be augmented with the latest election results.

WMAQ’s 10 p.m. team of Rob Stafford and Allison Rosati will anchor all the coverage. They will be joined by political editor Carol Marin, political reporter Mary Ann Ahern and a variety of political and community experts. The entire WMAQ news and NBCChicago.com news teams will be covering the candidates and results from across the city and suburbs.

NBCChicago.com will be be live streaming WMAQ and Chicago NonStop coverage, as well as providing breaking updates from reporters in the field. Our Decision 2010 election center will provide live AP election results, and NBCChicago’s political franchise, Ward Room, will post updates and tweet news (@ward_room) throughout the night.

WMAQ’s Lisa Parker will be monitoring Twitter and Facebook and updating viewers throughout the night on what viewers are talking about. Comments from viewers via e-mails, texts and blogs will also air in a crawl that will continue throughout our local coverage on both WMAQ and Chicago NonStop.
