Diane Sawyer To Accept ASU Journalism Award

PHOENIX (AP) — ABC newswoman Diane Sawyer is expected to receive a journalism excellence award in Phoenix on Friday.

Sawyer anchors ABC’s flagship newscast, “World News with Diane Sawyer” and for 10 years was the popular co-anchor of “Good Morning America.”

She has traveled the world to cover breaking and in-depth news, and has reported on presidential elections, the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, and Hurricane Katrina.

Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication is set to give Sawyer its journalism excellence award at a luncheon ceremony Friday at the Arizona Biltmore in central Phoenix.

Sawyer has won dozens of other awards, including Emmys, Peaboys and the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award.
