Aspera Previews Mobile Data Transport For Android

Aspera Inc. today introduced its fasp-AIR mobile transport technology that enables faster data transfer speeds for wireless networks. NAB attendees are getting the first look at Aspera’s new Android transfer app, which is expected to ship later this year, and comes on the heels of the Aspera Mobile Uploader for the iPhone and iPad released in 2010.

The fasp-AIR mobile platform fasp-AIR allows Aspera customers to achieve high-speed file transfers over wireless networks straight from their handheld devices. Particularly useful to media professionals, the mobile transport platform enables remote news professionals and contributors with high-speed, predictable file transfer to and from mobile devices.

Aspera said its Mobile Uploader for the iPhone and iPad “empowers remote news professionals and contributors with high-speed, predictable file transfer to and from mobile devices. Over typical 3G and 4G networks, fasp-AIR performance is on average up to three times faster than regular TCP and fully utilizes the available channel capacity, independent of the high packet loss associated with wireless links.”

Mobile transfers are fully interoperable with the Aspera Connect Server and Aspera On-demand, and are manageable through the Aspera Console.
