Baron Services Suing Media Weather Innovations

Baron Services, a provider of site-specific weather detection and forecasting technologies, announced today that it has filed patent infringement actions against Media Weather Innovations LLC. Media Weather Innovations offers a weather alert service called WeatherCall. The action was filed in the United States District Court of Northern Alabama.

Baron Services has a long history in weather detection and forecasting technologies, especially in offering real-time, site-specific, advanced warnings of severe weather via its SAF-T-Net alert service. In providing this service, Baron identifies specific areas affected by dangerous weather such as homes, work or schools and delivers the information to affected subscribers.

Baron CEO-President Bob Baron said: “We have filed a lawsuit because we believe that a company is infringing our patent. So, we sought the court‘s protection of our property. As the case goes forward, we look forward to the opportunity to prove the facts we have alleged.”

The company issued a statement that said: “The devastating tornado outbreak that occurred across the southeast, and particularly in Alabama, on April 27, 2011, causing the loss of hundreds of lives and millions of dollars of property, reinforces the importance of technology like that invented and offered by Baron Services Inc. In bringing this lawsuit, Baron seeks only to make certain the public continues to receive real-time, site-specific, advanced warnings of severe weather threats, and that Baron’s property is protected. Everyone should have the opportunity to use the technology invented by Baron and Baron deserves to have its inventions properly protected, in a manner provided by the laws of the United States.”
