Tribune Names Robert Furlong GM of WPMT

The station group chooses the former GM of network affiliates in Albany, N.Y., Phoenix and Salt Lake City to run its Fox affiliate in Harrisburg, Pa.

Tribune Broadcasting today named Robert Furlong as vice president and general manager of WPMT, the company’s Fox affiliate in Harrisburg, Pa. (DMA 39). Furlong will assume his new duties July 18. He succeeds Larry Delia who Tribune moved to run its Indianapolis duopoly of WXIN-WTTV in April.

Furlong was most recently president-CEO of VCI solutions, a provider of software to cable and broadcast television industries, and before that managed television stations in Albany, Phoenix and Salt Lake City.

Furlong was VP-GM of Freedom Broadcasting’s duopoly in Albany, N.Y. — WRGB and WCWN — for six years beginning in 2004. Prior to his tenure in Albany, Furlong was VP-GM of KPHO Phoenix; before that at KUTP Phoenix; and before that at KTVX Salt Lake City.

Furlong is a graduate of Shippensburg University, in Shippensburg, Pa., just a few miles away from Harrisburg.
