DoApp Debuts Mobile Local News For iPad

Minneapolis-based mobile developer DoApp’s Mobile Local News platform for TV stations and newspapers is now available for iPad.

The iPad version of Mobile Local News has been designed to take advantage of the tablet’s larger screen. More than 300 news apps use Mobile Local News to distribute their content on iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone and now iPad.

“We started from scratch on the front- and back-end design of our iPad solution,” said Wade Beavers, DoApp’s CEO. “This is definitely not a refresh of our Mobile Local News design for smart phones, it’s a completely new experience. We focused on usability and user experience to create a great product, elegantly taking advantage of the metaphors and screen size offered by the iPad.”

DoApp’s Mobile Local News platform integrates into a news outlet’s existing content management infrastructure. A news provider’s mobile strategy can be deployed on iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone and iPad in 30 days or less from a provider’s initial contact with DoApp.

New features debuting with the iPad release of Mobile Local News include: live animated weather radar, push notifications as well as integrated, personal Facebook and Twitter posts and feeds.

Mobile Local News platform-based apps are available in more than 50 major cities around the United States. All news outlets using the Mobile Local News platform will soon employ the new iPad app. iPad Mobile Local News apps are available for participating TV stations and newspapers in the following cities: Minneapolis, Dallas, Phoenix, St. Louis, Boise, Houston, Portland and more.
