Vic Vetters Named GM Of WJAR Providence

The former group manager of stations in Burlington, Vt., and Utica, N.Y. is tapped by Media General to succeed Lisa Churchville in Rhode Island.

Media General on Tuesday named Vic Vetters vice president and general manager of WJAR, its NBC affiliate in Providence, R.I. (DMA 53), effective Oct. 3. Vetters, a more than 20-year veteran of the broadcast TV industry, succeeds Lisa Churchville, who retired June 30.

Since 2007, Vetters has been VP and group manager of WFFF and WVNY, a Fox-ABC duopoly in Burlington, Vt., and WKTV, an NBC affiliate in Utica, N.Y. From 2001 until 2007, he was VP, GM and general sales manager of WKTV and WBU, NBC and CW affiliates in Utica, N.Y. He joined WKTV-TV as director of news and operations in 1994, before being promoted to national sales manager in 1998.

He is also a practicing attorney and a member of the New York State Bar. Vetters is a graduate of Hamilton College, in Clinton, N.Y. He received an M.S. from Syracuse University and a J.D. from Albany Law School, in Albany, N.Y.
