WBTW Producing Morning News For WFXB

In an extension of the partnership between the two Myrtle Beach, S.C., stations, CBS affiliate WBTW will produce the new 7 a.m. Fox Morning News for Fox affil WFXB beginning Dec. 1.

In Myrtle Beach-Florence, S.C. (DMA 103), Media General’s CBS affiliate WBTW and Bahakel’s Fox affil WFXB will launch a new morning newscast beginning Dec. 1 at 7 a.m.

WBTW and WFXB have been in a partnership since 2004, with WBTW producing Fox News at Ten weeknights on WFXB.

The new, one-hour newscast will be anchored by WBTW’s Erika Hayes and will feature the StormTracker 13 Weather Team. The newscast will feature primarily local news with live reports, traffic updates and information on what happened overnight and what is happening during the day ahead. Community interest topics and interviews will also be a focus of the newscast as well.

The newscast will be the only 7 a.m. local news within the viewing area, according to the stations.

“We are delighted to announce the launch of Fox Morning News,” said WFXB General Manager Rigby Wilson. “We are excited to feature the market’s top news morning team and the only local TV news broadcast in the time period. It will be popular with viewers that don’t get up early enough to see local news before 7 a.m.”

“We are proud of the relationship we have built with WFXB. It is the crown jewel of the News 13 Network,” said WBTW Director of Content David Hart. “Our 10 p.m. broadcast is a big success, so we’re confident we will experience the same with this new newscast. We are looking forward to delivering more news at a convenient time for the viewers of WFXB.”
