Verizon Teams Up With 3 Cable MSOs

Verizon will pay $3.6 billion to Comcast, Time Warner and Bright House Networks to use a swath of cellphone airwaves that the cable giants own but do not use. That would cement Verizon's status as the dominant wireless carrier and give it access to valuable spectrum at a time when its primary rival — AT&T — is struggling to expand its network through a controversial proposed merger with T-Mobile.

It would appear that the architects of this deal believe antitrust laws are no longer enforced in the United States. What will the antitrust division of the Justice Dept. do with this one — assuming there is still such a division.

The Justice Department should do what why? I’m happy to see the spectrum hoarders coughing up at least some of the spectrum they have been hoarding.
