KLRN San Antonio Doubles Its Power

Noncommercial KLRN San Antonio, Texas (DMA 36), received FCC approval to increase its broadcast power on Nov. 30. Within an hour of receiving approval, KLRN doubled its power. This increase, KLRN said, will greatly expand the reach of the signal into distant viewing locations. It will also increase the likelihood that viewers with indoor antennas will be better able to receive the station.

The station said it will be necessary for over-the-air viewers who have not received the station in the past to re-scan for digital channels on receivers for those. Those who have received the signal but have seen digital breakups or interference should try again. KLRN’s newly increased power should reduce those over-the-air reception problems.

William G. Moll, KLRN president-CEO: “This has been a process that has taken two years to achieve. We are extremely pleased that some of our long term viewers will now receive our ‘over-the-air’ signal with greater clarity. Not only does greater transmission power extend our signal, it helps the signal pass through buildings and other surface obstacles.”
